Beaulieu Georges De Latour 1990

by Glenn Mackles » Mon Apr 18, 2011 12:56 pm

We opened a bottle of Beaulieu Georges De Latour 1990 Saturday night. The aroma had a distinct touch of licorice. In the glass, the color was a bit less vibrant than younger cabernet. Soon after opening, it was very smooth and the tannins very resolved but also seemed to be missing fruit tastes. Very long finish. As it opened up after an hour or so there was more fruit taste but still reminded me of old leather and spices. A very memorable bottle.... best of the year so far... but if I had more of this (I don't) I think I'd be drinking it rather than wait longer.

Best to all,
Glenn

Thanks for the post, Glenn. Funny thing about the Georges De Latour: To me, while I've always enjoyed it, it has also consistently not met my expectations. Maybe I expect too much.
