WTN: Super sipper

Deep garnet red in color. Rich black cherry and spice on the nose. Lucious midpalate of ripe black cherry and purple plums, combined with juicy acidity and just enough smooth tannins to balance this wine out. Long luxurious finish of dark fruit and acidity. Well balanced and great sipper.

With food: Good match with rosemary herb roasted pork tenderloin. Excellent match with sauteed mushrooms in a mustard cream sauce :D . The sauce and the mushrooms bring out the earthiness in the wine and accentuate the fruit.

Wine: Loring Aubaine Vineyards pinot noir, 2007. 14.1% abv

Note: when I visited the Loring winery in April of 2007, I thought the best wine I tasted was the P2 Aubaine Vineyards 2007. This wine is quite similar to it (as you would expect) and maybe even better with food than the P2 but is not a better sipper. In 2009 I did not get to taste this Loring wine or the 2007 Clos Pepe. I have yet to taste the Clos Pepe. I am saving it for another weekend/occasion.

I love Brian's wines and only recently had my first Aubaine. It was as good as I expected it to be. I'm sure you'll love the Pepe--I remember it as very black fruited. My fave is probably the Garys', though, for it's minerally red fruit.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Hi Jenise,

I think my favorite is either Clos Pepe or Cargasacchi. I have the 2007 Clos Pepe from Brian and Wes Hagen (Clos Pepe Estate) in my cellar. I am thinking about doing a horizontal tasting with some wine geek friends some day.
