Tried this last night at dinner:
1. Casaeda Syrah SonomaCoast (14.1%; www.CullerWines.com) CullerCllrs/Angwin 2008: Very dark color; very attractive blackberry/Syrah light toasty/smoky/oak rather cold-climate/peppery/roasted bit Rhonish complex nose; fairly tart some blackberry/Syrah rather cold-climate/roasted/black olive/peppery/spicy some tannic/structured light toasty/charred/oak somewhat hard/austere flavors; very long light smoky/charred/oak some blackberry/blueberry/Syrah/green olive some roasted/Rhonish/peppery rather tannic/structured finish; needs 2-6 yrs of age; much like early Failla-Jordan Que Syrah but more tannic/structured; a lovely cold-climate Syrah at a great price. $20.00

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. I was ordering some wine from GoldenGateWineCllrs (http://www.goldengatewinecellars.com/), a new store for me, to get some ArbeGarbe wines and wanted to fill out my case; so saw this Casaeda Syrah, which was a new one for me, so ordered a btl. When it arrived early this week, I saw the CullerCllrs on the label. Rats....another Syrah made like a NapaVlly Cab. Surprise/surprise...this was a cold-climate Syrah thru & thru; a really lovely Syrah that has some potential w/ age. And at a great price. Shows how you prejudices can lead you astray.
