WTN: merely Mosel

Not in the literal sense, as Donnhoff's Kreuznacher Krotenpfuhl is not located there, but his 2009 kabinet speaks more of Mosel than Donnhoff, a first for me as usually his wines offer their distinctive personality. There's light, ripe pear and tangerine with some white pepper on the finish. 10% alcohol. Merely good, but at $20, not a bad deal either but personally I prefer his Oberhauser Leistenberg better.

Krotenpfuhl is a distinctly different terroir for Herr Donnhoff. It's a bit of a shock to the system when one is mostly familiar with his other wines. I actually find it more analogous to Rheinhessen or even Rheingau in style.
