WTN: Pinot Grigio, Barolo

Notes from pizza lunch with Jojo and Miguel at Caruso.

Livio Felluga Pinot Grigio 2009 - Crisp and light. Rather peachy, slightly candied finish. One of the better Pinot Grigios I've tried, although I'm still not a fan.

Ceretto Barolo Bricco Rocche Brunate 2004 - Quite fragrant with mostly leather notes. Not really getting the classic tar and roses on the nose. Surprisingly sweet fruit, mostly dried cherry. Some chocolate tones emerge after about an hour in the decanter. The finish is quite long with a bitter edge. The tannins are still firm but not aggressive. This, coupled with the ripe fruit makes this Barolo rather forward despite its relative youth. Very good now but can probably improve some more even with short term cellaring.
Three be the things I shall never attain:
Envy, content, and sufficient champagne.
