Our neighbour's brother is a winemaker at Waveland Wines which make PinotNoirs and Chardonnays. Yesterday he had a tasting up the street from us; so we were fortunate to try some of his wines.
2008 Split Rock Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast) very well nanced Pinot with roses, mushrooms, anise, cherries. Restrained wine that was very easy to drink. Will not be confused with a Syrah, this wine does not overwhelm you.
2009 Doctor's vineyard Pinot Noir (Monterey Coast)- supposedly considered not from true Pinot country, this wine was beautiful. Much more fruit forward than the '08 above- straberries and spice.
2008 Akemi (Doctor's Vineyard) Pinot Noir- Cherry cola. very easy to drink. Monolithic in flavor but a very easy to like wine.
2009 Split Rock Chardonnay (Sonoma Coast)- lemon, grapefruit, spring water, nice acidity. None of the butteriness/oaky flavors to mask the grape. Great food wine.
