WTN: Continual Improvement ('01 Christoffel Spatlese)

by David M. Bueker » Mon Mar 28, 2011 8:42 pm

2001 Joh. Jos. Christoffel Erben Erdener Treppchen Riesling Spätlese
Bright, focused, lemony, mineral, herbal, electric, mouth filling, lip-smacking goodness brought to you by old vines, rocky slopes, October sunshine and a careful hand that let the fruit reflect the site and perhaps the last classic year in Germany. I've been wowed by this wine in the past, and so I am again. Laura just says "yum." Drink now, tomorrow, next week, next year or next decade (or two). It's that good.

and yes, the taster is getting better...

At first I thought the improvement referred to the wine. But even better that it's about you and your sense of smell/taste!

Good copy. I'm tempted to plagiarize.

True, but Meulenhof has achieved results of equal quality from grafted vines in the Treppchen, so...
