14.5% Alcohol
Consistent red color, no bricking, nothing orange around the edges (and the wine when tasted would indeed prove still to be rather young).
Nose (probably best thing about the wine at this stage):at first typical Barolo aroma, somewhere between rose petal and balsamic, followed by a distinctly saline quality and finally a fascinating persistent umami/mushroom note.
Decanted just prior to tasting, at first beside a slightly more strawberry taste with something almost like honey or chocolate at the finish, did not show much complexity. (Nor was it, however, at all hot; I was surprised to see the high alcohol percentage later.) It was, to be sure, a pleasant mouthful of wine, good, but not great. Later a little more minerality showed through, and, at a still more advanced stage, some of the mushroom character began to let itself be tasted.
Right now not as complex a wine in the mouth as in the nose, but perhaps holds future promise?
