WTN: 2007 St. Francis Pagani Zinfandel

by Drew Hall » Sun Mar 27, 2011 10:58 am

Sonoma, 95% zin, 5% Petite Sirah

I hadn't sought out St. Francis wines for many years due to, IMO, overpowering oak. This wine was a very nice surprise. Decanted for 2 hours prior to pouring. Very dark, not opaque, in the glass. Concentrated brambly raspberry, currant and blackberry flavors with hints of herb and chocolate. Really quite nice and just a hint of oak on the lingering finish. 15.4% Alc/vol.
