A really lovely scent, like the most pure Chianti imaginable with no oak, lovely bittersweet aromas of tart cherries and sandalwood. The lovely bittersweet and tart fruit continues on the palate; it might be fairly light, but it is intense, high in acidity and has quite strong tannins, too. Very refreshing. Despite a strong structure and plenty of bitterness, this is very moreish. Lovely wine. But this was all on the second day open; on the first it was rather too tight even for me.
Podere le Boncie (Giovanna Morganti) Chianti Classico "Le Trame" 2007 - 13,5% abv; label
A lovely wine, and quite forward and expressive already (even on the first day open). The scent is delightfully loamy, classically styled Chianti, but more ripe and darker than the other vintages I have had of this. Quite rich and fruity (at least when compared to the '02, '04 and '05 I have had of Le Trame), but crisp, tangy and moreish. Palate-cleansing, copious tannins. Lively, though not as acidic as I remember the others to have been. Even though I did prefer the '02 and '04 for having brighter fruit and more precision, this is still a style of Chianti I really like. Lovely. One should ideally hold, but it is so enjoyable I will also drink.
