WTN: 2005 Sky Vineyards Syrah (Mount Veeder, Napa Valley)

Sky is one of those tiny Mount Veeder wineries who follow their own path. Definitely an odd wine, with a distinctively minerally and MINTY note on both the palate and the nose. Not meaty or savory in a Northern Rhone way...but definitely not California jammy (alcohol is 13.5%)...more about the pure red fruit, with that odd mintyness thrown in as well.

More interesting than delicious, to be honest, but I enjoyed it. It opened up more with air, become rounder and slightly richer. Will probably buy another bottle to continue the experiment.
