2005 Franz Hirtzberger Riesling Smaragd Singerriedel
Outstanding. Electric fruit, spice, minerality, touches of honey and developing smoky notes combining seamlessly; very rich and powerful but really precise and focused with tremendous acidity and incredible persistence. Wow!

Agreed re. the 01 - that's a truly stellar wine. Had that in NYC a couple of weeks ago and it was still very young, but really outstanding. Have one bottle that I am keeping my hands off for some time, but I'm really excited to see what that will turn into with some age. (Though the '05 is no slouch either.)

The 2005 is by far the greatest Singerriedel I know. Could be rivaled by the 2009 which I haven't tasted yet.
