WTN: Dom. de Bellivière Prémices Jasnières

by Dan Smothergill » Sat Mar 19, 2011 12:15 pm

This is from an important producer in the Jasnières AOC which is located about 35 kilometers north of Tours. 100% Chenin Blanc, Prémices is described as a new offering designed to be affordable (it's about 13 euros). In the glass, the color is a darker yellow than I had expected. Seeing it, I dismayed that my treasure from the Loire might be oxidized. But it was not at all. The mouth feel also fooled me, being bigger and fuller than Chenins I'm used to; more like that of a sweeter wine. But there was no hint of sugar. In a word, the taste was like light honey. All in all, a delicious wine unlike any other Chenin I've ever had. It's a steal at the price.

I love this wine. I like the Rosiers even better.

I recently had the 2006 Belliviere VV Aparses, and loved it.

Yes, it was NV. (sorry I missed the question)
