2007 Domini Castellare di Castellina Chianti Classico
Mostly Sangiovese, with small amounts of Canaiolo, Colorino, and Malvasia Nera. Herbal nose. Full, moderately tannic, lightly oaky, with good underlying acidity. Tastes of mixed berries, plums, spices, tea leaves, and a touch of licorice. Very good; drinkable now, but will definitely benefit from more time.

2006 Rocca delle Macie Chianti Classico Riserva Famiglia Zingarelli
90% Sangiovese; the rest Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Full, with moderate tannin and acidity; polished and very modern in style, with flavors of dark berries, and chocolaty, lightly spicy, new oak. Not my thing.

2005 Camigliano Brunello di Montalcino
Nose of roses. Moderately full-bodied, youthful, and tannic; well balanced. Shows notes of cherries, stones, and spices. Give this several years at least, but it has the ingredients to be a really nice wine.

2004 Castello dei Rampolla Sammarco IGT Toscana
90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Sangiovese, and 5% Merlot. Full-bodied, moderately tannic, well balanced, still youthful, with cherry, crème de cassis, plum, spice, and floral notes. Excellent.
