WTN: 1993 Kees-Kieren Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Auslese

Our WOTM. This two-star Auslese has so much stuffing the remaining half-bottle of wine we put aside last Saturday (in a 375) was still singing the same song tonight seventy-two hours later. I don't know whether to call this a young wine with all the assets of an old wine or a wonderful old wine that still tastes young. Flowers, minerals, petrol, unctuous fruit -- its got everything you want in a first rate Riesling Auslese. I don't know if it's going to get better but no doubt it is going to get more complex.

'93 is one of those vintages that was never highly regarded but that produced lovely wines. At 18 years old I would expect that this wine was as good as it was ever going to get, but clearly it was pretty darned good.
