2006 Jean Foillard Morgon Côte du Py Cuvée 3.14
Remarkable wine - very dense, powerful and sappy for Gamay, darker fruited in its flavour profile than the regular Foillard CdP, but still keeping a sense of freshness and lightness that keeps it very drinkable. This has the depth, finesse and polished texture of a top Burgundy with tremendous balance and persistence.
2006 Marc Plouzeau Touraine Ante Phylloxera Clos de Maulevrier
From a plot of old ungrafted Cabernet Franc vines dating back to 1865. A little reticent and tannic at first, but after an hour it builds a beautiful perfume of fresh Cabernet Franc fruit tinged with cedar and fresh forestal greenery. Very pure and elegant with the same textural polish and seamlessness I've found in Baudry's Franc de Pied, bright acids keeping it very lively and grainy tannins on the back end that smooth out with a little air. Really great stuff and I'm glad I bought a bunch of this.
