WTN: An '09 Moulin-à-Vent

Joseph Drouhin Moulin-à-Vent 2009
Quite atypical for M-à-V unlike the previous vintages. Very ripe, very rich and very primary with fruit being both very sweet and very dark in tone. There is just too much "very" in this wine. It does have nice tannins and fair acidity but still seems a bit hollow. And just a couple more "verys" to add to the list: this is very powerful. I can, however, very well imagine this calming down and becoming a pleasurable drink in a few years.
I don't drink wine because of religious reasons ... only for other reasons.

'09 is ripe, that's for sure, but it is also balanced. I expect very good things in a few years.

I haven't had any 09 Beaujolais in the past weeks, but I wouldn't read too much into a hollow showing from one bottle. At least here in the States there is a big difference with some bottlings in comparison to 6-8 months ago when they first arrived. It's all very spotty and varies from cuvee to cuvee. I have been thinking about doing another battery of 09 Beaujolais but who knows when I'll get around to it.
