SWR: Anyone going to the Food and Wine Classic in Aspen?

by JC (NC) » Tue Feb 15, 2011 3:52 pm

This occurs June 17-19 and I may go this year. Back in January I checked on the Nantucket Wine Festival, mid-May, and most of the events were sold out so I may switch gears and go to Aspen this year. I also have a trip to Tuscany coming up late August into September to celebrate my retirement. Will be traveling to Tuscany with a group from Raleigh led by the same restauranteur who sponsored the trip to Provence in 2008. I need to start learning some Italian--I'm familiar with French so have some background in romance languages but only know a few expressions in Italian.

I went to this event for about 5 yrs back in the mid-'90's and thought it was a good event then. Then it started to get pretty pricey
and the focus seemed to drift to celebrities & beautiful people, neither of which I'm qualified to be. When they quit inviting DarrellCorti,
one of the best speakers they ever had there and one of the most brilliant men I know, I decided it was time to move on.

Thanks for your reply.
If I go I will probably "uglify" the beautiful people quotient.
