WTN: 1979 Dom de Chevalier

1979 Domaine de Chevalier (France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan)

Lovely old Bordeaux full of life. Delicate and herbal with a strong burnt nut, tobacco and coffee core. Long bitter finish. Bright, acidic with sweet soft fruit and fine fading tannins. Ghosty and lacy. This wine doesn't seem to be fading too fast. Quite lively for its age.
B+

Many thanks to Dale for getting (and sharing) this at an amazing price.

That's a lovely wine. Dale had opened a bottle with me some time ago, had really enjoyed it - basically had everything I'd want in an older left bank.

Must keep an eye out myself on the secondary market (if Dale's not bidding, that is ;))...

not sure how I missed this, just stumbled across.
I'm glad you enjoyed this. The 79 DDC has been a favorite of mine. Though prices have gone up a bit recently, still one of the best buys I know of in mature Bdx. One good thing is as a geeky wine, my luck is very good as to condition, as it's never had enough value to be traded a lot (so you run into less variability than say top '82s).
