WTN: I just couldn't resist -- 2007 Coup d'Etat.

I stopped by the Endless Vine three days ago to get a bottle of white wine for a vegetable casserole, and saw they had this wine on offer at $8.00 a glass. Just too tempting, with CNN carrying all the activity in Egypt -- although in fairness the folks at the wine bar had started to stock it about a month ago when all was quiet there.

In any event, a very pretty clear red color, red fruit aromas, strawberries maybe, good balance, fairly long finish, delightful aroma in the empty glass at the two minute and five minute posts.

I came for the coincidence, and stayed for the pleasure. :)

Label: "With this, the sixth vintage of the Coup, we continue to “épater le merloisie.” Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Syrah (60, 25, and 15 percent) are once again comrades in arms, fighting the good fight against the Cab-Chard hegemony."
