Picked this up at Vintages just a few days ago.
13.5% alc./vol. Translucent ruby colour; rather light, in fact. A simple, albeit appetizing, spicy / redcurranty bouquet. Tense, tart and grippy on the entry; very pleasant structure for what I initially thought might be a thin and boring wine - it's anything but! Spicy, tart, medium-bodied, with a really pleasing tannic grip that starts at the tip of the tongue and moves all across the palate. The spiciness, coupled with this tannin, make the wine particularly pleasing. The finish is characterized by a pleasant recurring warmth.
It went exceptionally well with the roast duck, and both the colour and tannic texture sang a beautiful harmony with the lingonberry sauce. This match was quite spontaneous, as I didn't know what the wine was like before planning the pairing.
