Annual party for local winestore staff and friends. There were 30 of us and we had a wonderful evening at a new restaurant downtown, Corso 32. Only around 30 seats plus but some great food reviews since opening a month ago.

`02 Devaux Millisieme was the reception bubbly. Very smooth on the palate, all seemed to enjoy this expensive champagne.

`07 Condrieu Les Vins de Vienne was served with deep-fried risotto and mozza balls. Ginger and honey on the nose. Dry style, 4 bottles drained quickly!

`06 Meursault Henri Boillot. Not too much experience with this one but well received by all. Very good acidity, nice oak/fruit balance, minerally. $70 up here in Canada, ouch. Served with semolina cake and mushrooms.

`96 Barolo Brunate Marcarini (magnum) was slightly corked. No note.

`03 San Leonardo Vigneti delle Dolomiti. Cab/Merlot blend from north of Tuscany. Way too young for me, tobacco, currants on nose. Bordeaux-like, big character, 13% alc. Amazing food match here.....Braised rabbit and pistachio tortellini. Wonderful dish, will go back for more of this pasta.

`03 Ch. Lascombes Margaux is a Grand Cru Classe. High % CS I think? Drink now, big dark color, soft tannins, great finish/cassis/spice/ripe/plum/cherry/earthy thought some.
Another classic food wine match up.....Slow roast pork shoulder with polenta. Great menu eh.

`95 Quinta do Crasto VP. Served with chocolate mousse-like dessert. Chef secret about recipe, "think sex". No note on VP, too much going on!

Hi Bob -

Thank you for the interesting notes - sounds like a fun event! I remember really enjoying a 2004 Vins de Vienne Condrieu a few years ago, but have not seen this bottling of theirs since.
