Copain Mailer

Got notice of the new Copain list releases. I picked up some of these last year for the first time based on some things I read including an NY Times article. I haven't sampled any yet though. I see they raised their prices on the single vineyard wines $5 a bottle. Just wondering if anyone is a big fan of these wines. Anyone buying?

At least one of the guys in my tasting group is on the list. I think the recent releases are pretty good. I don't care for their older stuff. Newer wines are less extracted/ripe.

I blew out my credit card on Rhys.

My bottles are all '07, '08, & '09, newer stuff. The single vineyard Syrahs & the Roussane sounded intriguing which is why I jumped in last year. So, let's see, Rhys huh? That's a new one. This is how it happens! Maybe I shouldn't check out that website. :)

Yeah Joe, I thought a $5.00 reduction would have been more timely.

To be fair to Copain I should mention that they offer a discount on their "Tous Ensemble" series of wines if you bought a minmum of 12 bottles in the previous year. In the current offering that means a $4.00 savings on the Syrah and a $3.00 savings on the Pinot.

Tom - the good news is the Rhys mailing list is fully subscribed, so it wouldn't cost you anything to check. However, I can tell you it would be awfully tempting for you to sign up for the waiting list. :)

Had a chance today to taste the `09 Copain Viognier. Was being poured by the rep, very good wine indeed. Tous Ensemble I believe?
