Hugh Johnson is one funny !@#$

I just bought the 2011 Pocket Guide and, as usual, I browsed through it looking for the usual witty asides (that sadly, no one in Israel seems to grasp).

Here is this year's winner:

"If the world came to an end, life in Italy would probably go one very much as before".

Referring to the reaction to the Brunello scandal and recent amendments to the EU quality designations. But it could well have referred to their national leader's pre-occupation with nubile hookers.

That's a pretty funny line. It could describe many aspects of Italian life, from the food to the wine to the bureaucracy.
