WTN: '04 Tobin James Silver Reserve Syrah

by Carl Eppig » Mon Jan 17, 2011 7:54 pm

2004 Tobin James, Silver Reserve, Paso Robles, Syrah. It had plenty of very ripe black and red fruit, which took care of the nose and the tongue tip. In the middle there was a complexity to dream about, including more fruit, some smokiness, a half ton of spices, and other things to make you forget about the 15.1%. The finish lingered on and on.

We had it for dinner with lamb shoulder chops marinated in our mint, lemon, and EVOO mayonnaise; rice cooked in goose stock, and minted peas. Is this Monday? I can't believe it.
