2005 Chateau Rollan de By Medoc- dusty, cinnamon nose, not an over ripe or massive wine, cassis, berries and a nice moderate finish. Good drinking
1999 D'Arenberg The Dead Arm Shiraz- deep purple, beautiful floral, spicy nose, cedar, loads of berries, smoke, leather, blood (Northern Rhonish), very complex. Long finish. The tannins have softened but this wine has at least a decade more left in it. Everybody's WOTN.
2008 Cedarville Grenache- from El Dorado, this is a very light bodied wine, has a light rose, earthy nose like a Pinot. Strawberries on the palate. Very easy drinking food friendly wine.

Not sure why Dead Arm doesn't get more love. It's always been an excellent wine that avoided the truly over the top excursionsthat characterized the Mollydooker/Marquis Phillips ranges and thier ilk.

Speaking of D'Arenberg, we recently opened their 1998 Ironstone Pressing (GSM blend) which provided much pleasure without being full bore in any way. I suspect that wine is at or near peak, but should hold a few more years. A very pleasant surprise.
I need to re-visit some of my late 1990's Dead Arms soon.
