Reason to check the cork in restaurants dates from days when someplaces filled up the used expensive bottles with plonk and resold them.

Those days are back - in China at least

China's booming wine market has created an astounding demand for empty bottles of famous wines, with fraudsters paying up to £300 for a good bottle

Back in the day over 75% of all software in China was pirated. Sounds like they found a new opportunity.
