I bought this 1999 Goldwater Roseland Marlborough Chardonnay recently in a discount bin on a whim and glad I did. On openinga this deep golden wine shouted spiced pear and a bit of a laquer. The palate followed thru and although the laquer quality was obvious, the spicey pear kept up with the esther-ish quality and made for an altogether very enjoyable Chard. The nose as I write has a smokey quality mixed with that spicey pear. Lovely to smell! At peak now or slightly beyond, I'd buy more now to consume immediately it available.
