Barossa Valley
A blend of Grenache (60 per cent) and 20 per cent each of Mataro and Shiraz.
Decanted about 30 mintes before dinner.
Initially a very shy nose, revealing only vanilla, but later picking up some hard cherry candy on the fairly rich and sweet nose.
Rather weighty in the mouth, spicy, peppery, creamy, rich cherry fruit, red licorice, sharp and showing some alcohol heat.
Cherry cough syrup, spicy, rough and some alcohol burn on the finish.
An unpleasant and disappointing wine, which I got as a Christmas gift.
Screwcap closure.
