Must try to catch up with some recent wines, plus an excellent honey ale!
N/V Champalou Brut Vouvray.
Typical apple mineral flavors. Bright and bubbly with pear, apple and peach. Has cellared nicely for 3 yrs.
`04 Simi Landslide Cab Sauv Alexander Valley.
Very good cab this. some oak prevails but masses of rich black fruits. Fine tannins, must be under $30 I think. Buy!
`06 Roulerie Chenin Blanc Anjou.
Expected more from this but did fill out on day 2 somewhat. Dry, 14% alc, deep yellow. Found that hint of 'wet wool'. Shortish aftertaste, no richness here. Hope the late harvest shines more than this.
N/V Carmin Dry Langlois, Loire Valley.
100% Cab franc, still my fave sparkling red at Xmas time. Med-red ruby, good viscousity. Nice mousse feel on entry, red berries, lengthy finish, 'not too sweet' was one comment. Very fine tannins here, lovely stuff, so happy to find here in AB.
Discovery Fireweed Honey Ale, Yukon Brewing Co.
Refreshing, hoppy, easy to drink, not too thick on the honey. This is an exceptional beer!
