WTN: Young and (too) old

by David M. Bueker » Tue Dec 21, 2010 8:58 pm

Dinner with my folks in Virginia:

2001 Josef Leitz Rudesheimer Berg Schlossberg Riesling Spatlese
Still showing lots of primary fruit. There's a bit of spiciness from botrytis, and good underlying minerality. It's in a sort of adolescent phase right now (Laura likes it the way it is, I would prefer more development), but very fun and easy to drink.

2000 Brundlmayer Gelber Muskateller
This cellar orphan should have been consumed a few years ago. It's now simple & rather funky. There's no Muscat character, but rather stewed fruit with no underlying liveliness.

2004 Paolo Bea Montefalco Sagrantino Secco
Lively red berry flavors with excellent cut. Very young, but good balance right now. Wonderful match with our crab & plum tomato pasta main course.

Something with a bit of "cat pee" might compliment. :)

That too many people have died?

David, I think you might want to re-read your original post (portion I quoted). Somehow I don't think your mom is THAT good a cook.
