2009 Jean-Paul Brun Terres Dorees l’Ancien Beaujolais
Forest floor on the nose. Young and tannic, lean red fruit, some tea and meaty flavors. A bottle with rustic structure and with good potential with some cellar time. As a side note, we ordered this bottle during our 2nd visit at Riverpark Restaurant. Our wine was served at the appropriate cool temperature and our wait staff made sure to change the stems on our table to the appropriate Burgundy ones. Riverpark continue to impress with very polished, yet sufficiently casual service, and this time we opted for the very good bar/café menu. B/B+ (wine); A- (restaurant).
2009 Domaine de Pavillon de Chavannes Cuvee des Ambassades Cote-de-Brouilly
The nose on this wine evolved throughout our dinner and at various times I had pleasurable whiffs of confection, wet earth, wood, flowers and fresh meat. Quite young, but also approachable at this stage. High in acidity, some sour red cherries, wood, and drank well with a sweet sausage pasta dinner at home. Good length. B+
