WTN: Courtney Benham 2009 Sonoma County Chardonnay

by Robin Garr » Sat Dec 18, 2010 6:13 pm

Here's an exceptionally decent affordable Chardonnay, a recent California Wine Club shipment from Courtney Benham, a label from the investor by the same name who recently purchased the old Martin Ray winery and re-established the winery in Sonoma.

Courtney Benham 2009 Sonoma County Chardonnay ($10.99)

Transparent straw color. Pleasant tropical fruit aromas, papaya and fresh figs and dates, lead into a medium-bodied, dry and pleasantly tart white-fruit flavor with a touch of toast. It handles its 14.2% alcohol well, and made a fine match with broiled bluefish Dijonnaise. (Dec. 17, 2010)
