WTN: 2007 Chateau Mont Redon Cotes Du Rhone

by Drew Hall » Fri Dec 17, 2010 8:38 am

My wife and I shared this last night. Deep violet in color. Very silky in the mouth showing nice blackberry and dark cherry flavors, subtle minerality and a hint of licorice on the persistant finish. Not a blockbuster but a satisfying CDR that I believe won't get any better with additional aging. 14% Alc/vol. $16

I like Mont Redon. Never a blockbuster, but you might be surprised how these traditional midbodied CdPs age.

Is this the one under screwcap? I know one of these is under a screwcap and I think this is it. I am getting it for a bit less than $16 as well. At the $12 price it seems a no brainer to me.

Oops, I read too quickly/sloppily, somehow I processed as its big brother, the Chateauneuf.

Maybe it's the vintage. It just seems so together at this point that I can't imagine any positive changes. I'll hide a few and see what happens over time. This bottle had natural cork and the two I purchased were from a shop whose prices are upwardly mobile.
