There's one thing I miss in Robert Parker's Wine Guides: The black list of worst performing regions/producers regarding cork-tainted wine.
How do you think about this?
I think anybody who had the pleasure to taste great wine from tank/barrel knows what I'm talking about: Wine tasted from tank/barrel is normally much better than bottled wine - for various reasons. One important reason is the potentially negative impact of cork on the wine. The greater the wine, the greater the potential damage. Worst ranking regions in this regard are in my view:
1. France - Chateauneuf du Pape (also high-end products)
2. France - Burgundy (also high-end products)
3. Italy in general
4. Austria in general
5. France - Bordeaux (also high-end products)
..
Do you share the same view? I'd be interested to learn about your personal experience regarding cork-tainted wine in the premium segment.
Cheers,
Rainer
