13% alc./vol. $12.95 at Vintages; fake cork.
Deep, dark garnet-black hue with a dark cherry-red meniscus. Intriguing nose of black olives, brett and subtle green pepper - pleasantly funky. Legs form readily with swirling. Crisp and medium-bodied on the entry, but with immediate chalky/grippy tannin that is extremely pleasing. Dry and grippy all across the palate. Appetizing, spicy, pleasantly bretty wine. Dry and tannic on the finish, with a nice subtle warmth.
This exceeded my expectations for the price. I particularly enjoyed the fact that although it's a Cab, it's full of funky aromatics that really keep things interesting. It's best when left in the open bottle or a decanter for a few hours after opening. It's also a steal if you like this sort of wine.
