WTN: Cafe Culture Pinotage 2009

by Bruce Hayes » Sat Nov 20, 2010 7:07 pm

KWV
WO Western Cape

Dark purple in the glass.

Rich, chocolate, cherry, smoky on the nose.

Medium weight, sour cherry, tangy acidity, smoky, band aid-antiseptic note, burned, a little sharp.

A tangy, mouthwatering finish,

For a change, my wife liked this wine more than I did.

Screwcap closure.

Purchased at $13.95 (Canadian).

Bruce,

Thanks for the note.

I've had this wine suggested to me by many people on many occasions. I have yet to take the plunge.

Something about it just makes me hesitant. Probably the kitschy name...

The sharpness - could that be acidification? Just wondering.

Or it could be that you can buy more or less the same beverage at Starbuck's.....
