LATimes: KalinCellars

by TomHill » Thu Nov 18, 2010 10:46 am

Interesting article by JamesRicci in today's LATimes on KalinCllrs:
LATimes:KalinCllrs

It talks quite a bit about the Semillon, but seems to overlook that some of the greatest, most ageable Semillons come from the HunterVlly. A serious oversight.
TerryLeighton iis a PhD microboligist and has done serious research on natural wine yeasts in Calif vnyds. He sez: "Here what you found on the grapes, you would not want to make wine with. They're essentially spoilage agents". Such heresy 'tain't gonna fly well with sweet Alice.

The Kalin Pinots and Chards are also excellent - very complex and age-worthy and relatively good values.

I have seen Kalins Semillons here in one store and often wondered why so aged!
