WTN: 09 Müller-Catoir Bürgergarten Riesling Spätlese

2009 Müller-Catoir Haardter Bürgergarten Riesling Spätlese Trocken –Pfalz, Germany 13,0%

Where as M-Cs Herrenletten is a panolopy of spice twisted and churned in raw-Riesling fruit, neighboring Bürgergarten is like cranking up the treble, mid, and Bass together. A rock-out session with some commentary. Peach, orange, lime, bamboo; a savory, shalloty-roux (good lord!); and dusty, sweaty, salty, mineral. Delicious dry Riesling.

Cheers,
Bill

Sounds great. I tried a few of the Catoir dry wines in August, and they did not show well at all. Probably needed a little more time to settle down.

All of M-Cs '09 wines that I've yet tried (every one of them trocken) have needed a little air and a little time to get fired up, and that includes Muskateller and Scheu. Not only that, but I'm starting to think that dry Riesling in general requires more time to breathe than anything else (anything that that I drink anyway.)

On that note, I'd like to see everyone hold wines back longer before release anyway. Cash-flow and New-vintage Mania combine to become a pretty big obstacle to that.

Cheers,
Bill

Perhaps we should only have vintages every 2 years! I know my cellar would be thankful.

Did anyone try the M-C 07 trockens? If so, how were they?

Or how are they? We drank the Breumel in den Mauern Riesling GG and the Bürgergarten Riesling Spätlese trocken '07s last spring. Powerful wines that I though might be Dürnsteiners.
