2005 Daniel Vollenweider 'Wolfer Goldgrube' Riesling Auslese (AP# 0606)

Pale yellow. Tasting notes taken after 2 days of airing: There's an ethereal and clean perfume of sweet peaches and white blossoms in the nose. Not the slightest sign of oxidation. Not the slightest sign of botrytis either. Demonstrating enormous complexity, depth and freshness although it's currently in a closed phase primarily revealing baby fat which is recalling of creamy white chocolate. The harmony in this wine is setting benchmarks. It's very long on the finish, ending almost dry on the palate. Harvested from a great vineyard by a great producer > http://www.weingut-vollenweider.de/_panoramic.html
My personel rating: 18/20.

Cheers,
Rainer

Sounds delicious. I only bought Vollenweider Spatlese in 2005. :?

Me too, I have 1.5 cases of the regular Spatlese and 0.5 cases of the Reiler Spatlese. :(

Checking back I only have Auslese for the 06 vintage left..... gonna hafta look to see if any '07 auslese are still around....

But I agree with you, the focus of his wines is so wonderful. I love it.

The man is definitely a very nice guy! and I love his approach to the wines. When I have a serious riesling head over for dinner, I'm sure to pull one of these and then I sit back and watch their face :)
