WTN: Big House White 2009

by Bruce Hayes » Thu Nov 11, 2010 4:49 pm

California
Big House Wine Company

A blend of Malvasia Bianco, Muscat Canelli, Viognier, Gruner Veltliner and Pinot Grigio.

Bright yellow in the glass.

Spicy, honey, citrus, lychee on the nose.

Medium weight, oily, orange and lemon marmalade, apricot, peach, good acidity, very big, floral, rich, with a light bitter bite.

Drying, citrus, some bitterness on the mouthwatering finish.

I think I prefer this to the Big House Red.

Screwcap closure.

Purchased at $9.95 (Canadian).

Bruce, I have tried this wine from 750ml bottle, and found it a bit too sweet for my taste. I do however see how it could be a big seller in some crowds. OTH I also tried the Big House red and found it worthy of a 3 liter box buy. Real nice wine for about $5 when purchased in a bag-n-box. the red is a field blend, and I couldn't really tell if one grape dominated, but for pizza or burgers, it works well.
