This is Pedroncelli's "cheapo" red blend of Zin, Merlot and Sangiovese. Cheapo may be the wrong term to describe the wine probably because at $10 this wine over-delivers. I have always enjoyed Pedroncelli's wines and this one went well with some hastily made chicken curry and brown rice last night.

I've spoken to the owner who actually lives on the East coast. I nice guy and generally agreeable wine. I've not tried this one so thanks for the heads up!

I saw a bottle of Pedroncelli at the Food Co-0p last week, and asked the wine guy if it's still the same old family winery I remember from long ago or if the name got sold and is being re-used by someone unrelated, like Trader Joe's Charles Shaw label. Nope, still the same family winery I remember. I believe it was a cab he was selling for about ten bucks--highly reccomended he said for out performing that price. Like what you found here. Nice that some things don't change, isn't it?
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

When I lived in the Napa Valley many years ago (we're talking the 1970s...), I felt that Pendroncelli was one of the best value producers in the Golden State.
No snobbery, just good, honest, earthy, fruity wine.
Loved it.
Glad to see that they have neither gone out of existence, or up-market.

Best regards,
Alex R.

I have been on their club list for quite some time and their other wines (notably the Mother Clone Zin) have never failed to impress. Alex, I agree that they are among the few honest producers in that area (even for Dry Creek where some Zins are going upwards of $30) and Jenise, I am certainly glad that some things don't change. Michael, I did not know that the owners live on the east coast. I always assumed that the Pedroncelli family was deep rooted in the Sonoma soil.

I stopped by Pedroncelli yesterday. The red blend is a great wine for ten bucks as is the Mother Clone Zin for $15. All of their reds (didn't try whites) are some of the best QPR I've run across.

I meet him once at the Wine Expo in Boston and he and I got into a long chat about the business. At the end of that conversation, he invited me to lunch at his house one day something I've not taken him up on. Great guy and he must spend some time on the West Coast but seemed from how he was talking, his home is on the East.
