WTN: Big House Red 2008

by Bruce Hayes » Thu Nov 04, 2010 6:59 pm

California

A bizarre blend of Syrah, Petite Sirah, Grenache, Montepulciano, Mourvedre, Sangiovese, Tannat, Aglianco, Nero d'Avola, Segrantino and Barbera.

Purple in the glass.

Spicy, grapey on the nose.

Medium weight, tangy, smoky, mild bitter streak, currants, cherry, raspberry, juicy, good acidity, fleshy, tobacco, a little tart.

Mouthwatering on the finish.

With 11 grapes in the blend, it is rather difficult to figure out what's going on.

Purchased at $12.95 (Canadian).

We thoroughly enjoyed the few bottles we've had.

What's going on is that they had to clean out the remenants of different vats and decided, rather than dump the stuff down the drain, to try to recoup some of their costs....add a a little clever marketing, and presto! More revenue.
