WTN: SansLiege Sancha Marsanne '09..(short/boring)

Tried last night w/ my cheese souffle:
1. SansLiege Sanch 100% Marsanne DerbyVnyd/PasoRobles (48 cs; 15.9%) 2009: Med.gold color; rather appley/Marsanne light floral/carnations/ripe/pineapply/very fruity rather perfumed attractive nose; soft/fat very rich/lush/ripe slight alcoholic/hot light appley/floral/pineapply/carnations flavor; med. soft/fat slight alcoholic very ripe/lush light floral/pineapply/appley/apple blossom/Marsanne finish; quite attractive nose but a bit soft/fat/porky on the palate and a bit of alcoholic heat; doesn't show any of that stoney character that Marsanne can often show. $27.00

Wee BP:
1. The DerbyVnyd is over in the Templeton Gap and used to be known as RozetVnyd, from which SteveEdmunds made some lovely whites. I generally liked this Sancha but would have liked a bit more acidity and a bit less overripeness.
SanSiege is the label of Curt Schalchlin in PasoRobles. Pretty much like anything he makes. Tends towards the ripe Paso style.

I remember the ESJ LRV Rozet, nice wine (even for a guy who doesn't love Rhone white varietals). Does vineyard still have other grapes?

Dale,
I think the vnyd is pretty intact. Steve quit taking grapes from there when the quality of the growing went downhill. But it's back in form when
the owner died (I seem to recall) and Derby bought the vnyd. Viognier & Roussanne also in there. Check the Derby WebSite for details.
