WTN: Biffar kab trocken

by Bill Hooper » Sun Oct 24, 2010 3:07 pm

Weingut Josef Biffar Deidesheimer Herrgottsacker Riesling Kabinett Trocken 2008 –Pfalz, Germany 11% alc.

Fresh as a tank-sample and squeaky-clean with orange marmalade, lemon, chestnut, snappy veg (kohlrabi?) and plenty of juicy acidity (and not as trocken as trocken can be.) Simple, straightforward, and highly versatile Riesling. A drinker!

Cheers,
Bill

Sounds nice. Biffar has been through a lot of changes in recent years, and are no longer available in my area. Glad to hear they are having some success.

I had a nice visit with Lilli Biffar this past July and she informed me that they and Terry had parted ways. Apparently she has a NY distributor and one in CA, though I can't recall which ones. Hopefully they'll emerge somewhere.

Cheers,
Bill
