Short notes from the La Tienda lunch 2 weeks ago.
Lopez de Heredia Vina Tondonia Gran Reserva 1994 - Sandalwood, beef. Soft and ripe. Acid streak on the finish. Coffee, cherries and a bit of earth after some time in the glass. Fresh and complex. Very good.
Prado Enea Muga Gran Reserva 1998 - Sweet nose. A bit of heat. Ripe fruit. Still tannic. Beef fat and espresso. Nice.
Tinto Pesquera Gran Reserva 1996 - Dryish, with a tea-like nose. Sweet and rich on the palate. Tannins are still firm. Just about peaking now.
Cims de Porrera Classic 1999 - Lots of heat. Some dustiness. Overripe fruit. Some jamminess. Modern and porty.
Torres Mas la Plana 2002 - Very sweet nose. Very soft. Modern. Perfect now.
Marques de Caceres Gaudium 2001 - Bittersweet chocolate. Oddly, no other note.
Alion 2006 - Coffee beans. Full bodied but soft after 2 hours in a decanter.
Cellers Pinyol Mather Teresina 2003/2004 - From Tierra Alta. Bit of heat. Ripe berry Very firm and tannic. Slightly syrupy but dryish finish. Not yet ready. I have another bottle I'll keep for another 3 years or so.
