Tried this last night w/ leftover Risotto al Forno:
1. Jaffurs Syrah SantaBarbaraCnty (14.9%) 2006: Very dark/near black color; very strong/intense blackberry/boysenberry/Syrah/licorice light pungent/toasty/oak huge fruit nose; soft very rich/lush intense boysenberrt/blackberry/Syrah/licorice/ripe huge fruit light toasty/oak flavor; very long lush/ripe/huge fruit intense boysenberry/blackberry/Syrah/licorice light pungent/oak slightly hot/alcoholic finish; a huge fruit Syrah w/o being overripe or pruney; lovely Syrah & great drinking for the near term. $22.00

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. The '06 SBC Syrah was when I started giving Craig & Dave a raft of $hit for making Oz-style Syrahs. Though there was a bit of heat in the finish, this was anything but Oz in style. It did not have that goopy/soupy character that low-end Oz-shiraz often show. Huge in fruit, but lots of interesting things in there.
Their '09 SBC Syrah is absolutely first-rate...maybe one of their best ever.
