If Bacchus would choose a wine ..

2003 Pendits Tokaji Aszú Essencia (high class sweet wine from Hungary)
330 g/l residual sugar according to Márta. - Fasten your seat-belts, this is really great stuff:
Bright yellow. Awesome clean and subtle nose of white blossoms, creamy white chocolate, verbena tea leaves, super-rich pears (like from another planet), dried apricots, honey and sea salt. There is a magic coexistance of enormous power and richness on one side as well as subtlety and complexity on the other hand. After swallowing it, the palate feels marinated with dried yellow fruits, tea leaves and sea salt. It's extremely long on the finish. This wine's concentration is literally dehydrating you - after every second swig you feel desire for a glass of water. But thereafter you feel desire to taste this beauty again. Thank you Márta! My personel rating: 20/20.

Cheers,
Rainer

It's kind of funny that Márta herself finds this wine almost over the top - it's really a future legend and quite likely the finest she's made thus far. The relatively low yet incredibly aromatic acidity is drug-like, and the freshness and florality given the sweetness and viscosity well-neigh unbelievable. What a wine indeed!

Greetings from Switzerland, David.

Sounds absolutely magical. Been too long since I had a Tokaji. I adore them, but they're vastly underappreciated over here.

I love tokai!!! Always ensure that there is more than a few bottles at home, some lower end for more regular drinking and then some nice stuff.

I couldn't agree more with you David. This wine is on a level where quality is undeniable. Actually I should have described the (perfect) storage conditions and (good) cork quality instead of the wine itself.
