WTN: A "natural" Loire red

A 100% Gamay Vin de Table from the Loire (around Les Montils). A "natural" wine (i.e., minimal intervention, organically grown fruit, wild ferments, low SO2) and this bottle was probably from a relatively recent vintage. Synthetic (Nomacorc) closure. ("Telquel" = "as it is"/itself, which sounds like "teckel", which is used to refer to a hunting dachshund - thus the label.)

Slightly mirky pale red.
The nose showed fruit with a sour/savoury edge to it: no-too-ripe damson and crushed raspberries, along with some stemmy/earthy/spicy(star anise) and vegetal notes. It is certainly "sauvage" in nature.
Definitively light on the palate (12.5%), with well balanced acidity and soft (supporting but hardly noticeable) tannins and earthy red fruit flavours. Some might feel it's too light in weight, but I personally found that a refreshing feature.

At around US$15 in the USA (or a pricier A$24 in Australia - even if the exchange rate wasn't so incredibly favourable for the AUD, this is still relevant) - this is fantastic value for money if you enjoy light, rustic and slightly wild Gamay!
