Sounds like something I should try!

I'm a big fan of what Martin Franzen is doing at Catoir now (particularly his Rieslings and Rieslaners), just haven't tried any of his Muskatellers yet... that needs to change.

Hi Salil,

You do. Gelber Muskateller doesn't get much better. Now that I've regained my composure: Lily, potpurri, white pepper, fresh-off-the-vine grapeiness, peach, and other spices that I can't even describe. Incredibly light and racy. The two best producers of the grape that I know of are M-C and Deiss. Wines like this make me think what a pity it is that there is so much Morio Muscat around the Pfalz and so little Muscat a petit grains.

I now live a short 10 minute walk from Müller-Catoir. Dangerous stuff, that!

Cheers,
Bill

Where's that jealous emoticon when you need it?

The old guard Catoir Muskatellers were some of my favorite wines, especially the '98 and '01. They also had the advantage of being cheaper than most other Catoir offerings. Time to check these wines again.

David, for 10€ it has got to be one of the best QPR wines available in Germany. 16€ for the terroir series MCs and generally 35€ for GG. It only goes up from there. :(
